AAF / US Army officer's gilt cap badge.

Excellent US Army officer's gilt cap badge of the slightly larger, earlier style with a more oval shaped top. Screw back with short prongs all intact. No markings but a lovely crsp example.

Large insignia / document / photo grouping to one Texas military (AAF) family.

Fresh from the family and never before offered for sale. This is a HUGE grouping of medals, insignia, photographs and paperwork from one family. Includes all the medals and badges you see. The combat infantryman's badge has the clutches broken but as far as I can tell, all others are intact. Service in WWII with the Army then the USAF in Korea. Tons of documents, letters home, approximately 65 photographs of service life and family including 2 excellent panoramic group unit pictures. Many are large 8" x 10" images. There are also excellent photographs of his father who served in the US Cavalry including one large mounted portrait which is signed by the renowned Texas photographer in the 1920s and 30s (Flint). Too much to list individually and being sold at family's request as one lot. Lots of history and

a great opportunity for research. Also includes ewspapers announcing the death of President Roosevelt, together with four different covers of the Dallas Morning News with various headlines regarding the war; a complete copy of Stars and Stripes (ETO, March 1945) and numerous newspaper clippings featuring various war stories and events. Most are in good condition with some slight foxing, minor tears but make a great display and interesting reading! 24 cartoons by noted artist Bill Mauldin, all clipped from wartime newspapers, plus 4 additional cartoons by other artists.

AAF 529th Bombardment Squadron embroidered jacket patch (reproduction).

Exceptionally good modern reproduction of the famous 4th Fighter Group squadron patch, embroidered in silk on heavy cotton for attaching to an A-2 or similar flying jacket. The 529th BS was attached to the RAAF and flew missions throughout the Pacific theatre from 1943 until the end of the war, earning a Distinguished unit citation in 1944. Patch is in unused condition.

Thai Air Force pilot wings for a USAF technical advisor, in original box.

Thai Air Force pilot wings, designed for a USAF technical advisor (lacking the Royal cipher above the shield). Exquisitely made with gold bullion wings and Thai headdress motif, and red/white/blue silk shield on a black felt background. Still sealed in cellophane and contained in their original cardboard box with printing and price label to the top. These are the same design as WWII but my guess would be that these probably date from the 1960s.

WWII US Navy pilot wing in original glassine envelope.

Unused US Navy pilot wing in gold bullion wire on dark blue wool background, unused and still in its original glassine paper envelope as when originally purchased. Envelope has been torn open but still present and has protected the wing for 80 years! Superb condition with a lovely patina. Impossible to improve on this on this!

US Indian Service button.

Very scarce Indian Service uniform button. Bronzed uniform button of the smaller size 5/8" (16mm) for tunic pockets and therefore less common than the larger buttons. These uniforms were worn by US Army Cavalry Divisions and Police assigned to Indian Reservations between 1850 and 1890. Made by Waterbury Button Co. A very scarce item.
